Kath  McCarthy ClinMGANZ

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Kath has worked in private practice for many years as an individual and relationship therapist working with adults and couples. She creates a safe, accepting space by inviting people to join in a respectful therapuetic relationship. She supports her clients to understand and strengthen their self-acceptance by exploring emerging patterns that may feel stuck and old. Through relational exploration, Kath supports the clients capacity to have more satisfying lives and relationships. For many years Kath has assisted people who have experienced childhood abuse and trauma, family violence and the complexities which stem from these experiences and their impact on their sense of themselves in their world. She brings a perspective which encompasses social justice and human rights values

Supervision

Kath has specialist training in supervision and has provided individual and group supervision to psychotherapists, counsellors, social workers, case managers and students both in private practice and as Manager and Senior Counsellor/ Advocate in a Centre Against Sexual Assault. She has also been engaged to provide supervision to groups of workers in family violence services. She has a strong understanding of the role of supervision in developing the skills, competencies and reflective abilities of counselling/ case work staff in communtiy based and not for profit agencies. In addition, she has a deep understanding of the importance of accountability, risk reduction, service quality and supporting best practice to nurture the wellbeing of staff in the workplace.

Consulting

Kath brings many years experience of leadership roles in both communtiy and hospital based services with diverse clients and communities including, as Manager of a hospital based Centre Against Sexual Assault, and as President of Gestalt Australia and New zealand Inc. She is familiar and experienced with accountabiltiy and quality requirements, change processes, ethical governance and staff development needs. 

 

 

Camille McDonald ClinMGANZ, AThR, PACFA Reg

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Camille has worked in private practice providing counselling, psychotherapy and art therapy to children, young people and adults since 2001. She works with clients to support their understanding and develop their awareness of themes in their lives that are often repeated and limiting. Within the therapeutic relationship Camille works with clients to deepen their self-awareness and self-expression through exploration of physical sensations, embodiment, thought processes and relationships.

Supervision

Camille provides supervision to trainee therapists, established therapists and art therapists in her private practice and within the community sector. Her experience in the education and community sector spans over 30 years and has informed her work as a supervisor. She is committed to the development of the practitioner through exploration of the reflective process. Her relational attitude to the supervisory process informs her work.

Consulting

As Managing Director of Training at Gestalt Therapy Australia (GTA), Camille has a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of organisations. Her experience in consulting ranges from consulting in the Education Department to consulting within organisations to improve the outcomes of practitioners, clinicians and clients. She is currently in charge of implementing the training program at GTA and also provides leadership and facilitation to a broad range of organisations, with a focus on the emerging needs of the team. Camille has extensive experience consulting with community organisations and working with groups.

 

Carolyn Stewart ClinMGANz

Counselling & Psychotherapy 

Carolyn has worked in private practice since 2000 providing counselling and psychotherapy to individuals in relation to a wide range of issues such as childhood abuse, relationships, addictions, eating disorders, life transitions, parenting etc. Her focus is on helping clients develop awareness, through exploring both their embodied experience and the meaning they have made so far, and being curious about how they have become who they are with the purpose of identifying ways of being that limit their ability, today, to have meaningful contact with themselves and others. Then through this awareness supporting clients to feel that they have more choice and a greater sense of wellbeing. 

Supervision

Carolyn provides supervision to teams, team leaders, managers and trainee and established counsellors and therapists working in the community and private sector both indiviually and in groups. As a supervisor her focus is on developing a collaborative working relationship that supports practitioners to work reflectively and be curious about who they are and how they and their client/team together will influence and shape the work that they undertake. She also helps the practitioner explore relevant theories and frameworks and face and work with ethical challenges. Carolyn has also taught and supervised developing practitioners at both Gestalt Therapy Australia and WIRE-Women's Information.

Consulting

Carolyn has many years experience in developing and delivering training, supervision and consulting services at WIRE, Gestalt Therapy Australia and within a range of community organisations. She works collaboratively with organisations and teams to identify the organisational and professional needs and tailors the work accordingly with a focus on developing the capacity of the team/organisation and, ultimately, the end focus being a better outcome for clients and service users.
